Prof. Dr. Mathias Klier

Mathias Klier holds the Péter Horváth Endowed Professorship for Business Administration with a Focus on Business Information Management at the Institute of Business Analytics at the University of Ulm. His research include big data analytics, data quality, (explainable) artificial intelligence as well as social media and social impact of IS.

Vita

Mathias Klier, born in 1979 in Friedberg (Bavaria), studied Business Mathematics at the University of Augsburg until 2005. For his diploma thesis entitled 'Measurement of Data Quality and Economic Evaluation of Data Quality Measures - a Dynamic Optimization Model using the Example of a Mobile Services Provider', he received the Vodafone Foundation Award for Research in the Field of Market/Customer Orientation. From June 2005 to January 2009 he worked as a research assistant at the chair of Business Administration, Information Systems Engineering & Finance and Information Management at the University of Augsburg. In February 2008, he received his doctorate with a thesis on 'Designing Customer-Centric Information Systems - Contributions to the Planning and Evaluation of Data Quality Measures and Communication Standards'. For his dissertation he was awarded the Research Prize of the Swabian Economy. From March 2009 to February 2012, Mathias Klier was assistant professor at the Department of Information Systems, Production and Logistics Management at the University of Innsbruck. In April 2012, he was appointed to the newly created Professorship of Management Information Systems - Quality Management and Quality Assurance at the University of Regensburg. Since September 2015, Mathias Klier holds the Péter Horváth Endowed Professorship for Business Administration with a Focus on Business Information Management and is professor at the Institute of Business Analytics at the University of Ulm.

Publications

Mathias Klier acts as a reviewer, associate editor and track chair for international conferences such as the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS). He is the author of numerous articles in books and journals such as ACM Journal of Data and Information Quality, Decision Support Systems, Electronic Markets, Journal of Information Science, and Journal of Management Information Systems. He has also presented the results of his work at international scientific conferences such as the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and the Internationale Konferenz für Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI).
