Application-oriented solutions and explainability of AI

Explainable Artificial Intelligence

The economic potential of AI is estimated at around 3 billion according to a recent study by McKinsey. AI can become a game changer due to its almost unlimited application possibilities in the corporate and social context. On the other hand, AI is often not used due to a lack of transparency and traceability. In fact, according to a recent study by the Bertelsmann Foundation, more than three quarters of respondents in Germany reject fully-automated decisions. This makes it particularly essential for companies using smart systems to increase their acceptance among their customers and consumers. The field of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) thus conducts research especially on the comprehensibility of AI decisions from the user's point of view. The focus lies on the following topics:

  • Methods for the traceability of AI decisions
  • User-centred design of (X)AI applications
