Final Event U-Shift II

Universität Ulm

Two weeks ago, we successfully presented our contributions to the U-Shift II project in the final event!

We have been responsible for the automation of the driveboard with the special focus on the docking process requiring high precision perception and motion planning with an overall tolerance of less than 2cm.
This capability is crucial for the widespread application of the U-Shift concept as it enables the driveboard to autonomously switch between different kind of capsules without any external support. During the final event, we demonstrated this process using cargo and public transport capsules as shown in the images below.

Our key contributions were:
- sensor setup and calibration
- environment perception
- capsule detection
- path- and trajectory planning

Big shout out to our team of PhDs consisting ofThomas Wodtko,Oliver Schumann, andDominik Authalerunder the lead ofMichael Buchholzand all the other partners for the great work and collaboration to make the final event such a success!
