Digital assistants support users in their everyday work routines. While they are gettingmore and more popular, they still have a limited ability to interact with other internetconnected physical devices. These internet connected physical devices are typicallyreferred to as Internet of Things devices. Complex and vendor-specific processes preventthe interoperability between digital assistants and Internet of Things devices. The aim of this research is to simplify the process, which is required to allow an interactionbetween digital assistants and Internet of Things devices. The idea of this concept isthat devices know their capabilities and share them with the digital assistant. The digitalassistant learns these capabilities and allows the users to interact with the devices. Animplementation and two prototypes demonstrate the use cases and provide results for adiscussion. The concept has proven to be useful while further research is needed on therepresentation of the capabilities.
