Digital transformation programs

Planning, evaluation and implementation of digital transformation in businesses

In the age of digitization, the majority of all companies are implementing digital transformation programs. Among other things, these programs have the goals of automating business processes, evaluating large data sets automatically, making automated decisions with the help of artificial intelligence, and so on. Such programs usually have a long planning horizon and consist of a large number of IT projects that interact and build on each other. Moreover, since program managers typically change the initial planning several times during the lifetime of such programs (e.g., postpone IT projects, cancel them, or extend them to include a follow-up project), dependencies and plan change options must be taken into account when planning digital transformation programs.

In this research area, the Institute for Business Analytics designs and evaluates approaches to the digitization of business processes and to the planning, assessment, and selection of IT projects in digital transformation programs.
