Contribution to the research colloquium 'Cognitive Systems'

on 6th February 2020.

Prof. Rukzio has invited Dr Tanja Blascheck, Stuttgart University, to present research results in a talk with the title From (Interactive) Eye Tracking Visualizations to Eye Tracking for Interactive Visualizations.

Abstract: In this talk, I present both (interactive) eye tracking visualizations as well as eye tracking studies for interactive visualizations. In the first part of my talk, I focus on a taxonomy of (interactive) visualizations for eye movement data. I explore selected types of visualizations available and the tasks they are suitable for, and give examples of eye tracking studies during which we used these visualizations. In the second part of my talk, I present how eye tracking studies can aid to understand interactive visualizations. I give an overview about a pipeline to synchronize eye tracking, interaction, and thinking aloud data and I show how this multi-source data can be analyzed in combination using visual analytics approaches. I end my talk with future challenges for both interactive eye tracking visualizations and eye tracking for interactive visualizations.
