The bachelor's programme lays the foundation in the areas of practical, theoretical and technical computer science and teaches basic design knowledge. This spectrum is complemented with modules on general media competence, like Media Education and Media Didactics. The development of interactive systems and multimedia applications is taught in depth over the course of two semesters.

A so-called applied subject complements the subject-specific programme. Applied subjects provide insights into specialised areas, which creates a basis for potential fields of work of the prospective media informatics practitioners. The following applied subjects are on offer: Interactive Systems, Animation, Computer Vision, Interactive Video, Media Education/Media Psychology, Human-Machine Dialogue Systems, Ubiquitous Computing.
