Application period for restricted bachelor's degree programmes

Applications for the higher semester in a programme are paperless. Please upload the required application documents with your personal upload assistant. You will receive a link once you have completed the online application.
We will not accept paper documents.
Applicants register on the campus portal of the University of Ulm. Applications for matriculation can be submitted from January 15 to March 31 (for the summer semester) or from July 1 to September 30 (for the winter semester). For matriculation into a higher semester, prior recognition of study and examination achievements is required upon application to the responsible examination board. Please remember to apply for recognition in good time.
In the following study programs, matriculation in the winter semester is only possible for an odd-numbered semester (3 and 5) and in the summer semester only for an even-numbered semester (2,4 and 6):

How to apply for a higher semester in
restricted bachelor's degree programmes:
1. Step: Online application
You apply online.
2. Step: You submit your documents
Upload the required application documents using the upload assistant. You will receive a link to your personal upload assistant once you have completed your online application.
All documents must be uploaded no later than the last day of the application period.
For applications for the winter semester, proof of academic achievements can be submitted belatedly by 1 September but only if the applicant has not received it by the end of the application period; for the summer semester, the deadline for belated submission is 1 March.

Upon completing the online application you will receive a confirmation email with your access details for the application portal, where you can find details on the status of your application and other notifications.
The selection procedure for higher semesters is based on the number of study and examination achievements to be taken into account and achievements according to § 35 LHG; in the event of a tie, the average grade of the first professionally qualifying degree and, alternatively the drawing of lots decides.
Bachelor's degree programmes with unrestricted admission
In the case of bachelor's degree programmes with unrestricted admission, no selection procedure is carried out, only sufficient creditable study achievements must be proven. However, the application options must be considered.
Bachelor's degree programmes with restricted admission
Free study places in bachelor’s degree programmes with restricted admission are awarded to applicants who can provide evidence of the appropriate study periods for their application semester and have the appropriate level of training.
Study places are allocated according to applicant groups in the following order:
1st Application group:
Applicants who have been admitted to the degree program applied for the 1st semester at the Ulm University.
2nd Applicant group:
Applications switching universities; applicants who continuing their studies - applicants who have/had final full admission to the degree program for which they are applying at a German or another university in a member state of the European Union.
3rd Applicant group:
Lateral entrants - other applicants.
Within the applicant groups, ranking is based on study and examination performance. 50% of the study places are allocated according to study and examination performance (ranking list) and, otherwise, according to social criteria.
