Digitalisation mission statement
Our vision for a future-proof, digitalised University.
Our vision for a future-proof, digitalised University.
(adopted by the Senate of Ulm University on January 15, 2025)
Ulm University sees digitalization as a holistic, cultural transformation and has already successfully implemented a number of campus-wide digitalization projects. In further developing the potential of digitalization for research, teaching and administration, Ulm University has adopted the following mission statement:
Ulm University sees digitalization as an opportunity to create freedom and opportunities for researchers, teachers and learners and thus improve the quality of research, teaching, continuing education and administration.
Digitalization will simplify processes in research, teaching and administration as much as possible. State-of-the-art technologies are used in each case, also considering cyber security and digital sovereignty aspects. The focus is primarily on reducing costs.
Successful digitalization requires openness, a willingness to cooperate and innovate and an affinity for IT from and in all areas. The cultural shift towards a focus on results, process responsibility and project orientation is promoted and supported. Ulm University makes targeted use of the specific scientific expertise of its members.
In a participatory process, the university develops implementation measures and a data policy from which medium and long-term objectives and plans emerge and continuously updates these.
The university supports the digitalization of different speeds, including under decentralized responsibility, and demands the interoperability of the implemented solutions.
For us, digitalisation is an opportunity to create freedom and opportunities for researchers, teaching staff and students and thus raise the quality of research, teaching, continuing education and administration to an even higher level.
