Step 1: Online application via uni-assist
Register for the uni-assist online portal, answer all the basic questions and questions for your course application.

Step 2: Upload documents
Please upload the required application documents. Give your documents an unambiguous name.

Step 3: Submit your application to uni-assist electronically
(Paper-based documents are not required for application)

Step 4: Pay the handling fees to uni-assist

All required application documents as well as the payment must be received by uni-assist before the application deadline.

  • Entrance requirements

    Entrance is subject to the following requirements:

    • proof of a bachelor's degree with above-average examination results in mathematics or any other programme with a strong mathematical orientation
    • proof of an adequate command of English demonstrated by
      - IELTS with 6.5 points or more
      - Cambridge exam - First Certificate in English (grade A), Certificate in Advanced
         English (A-C), Certificate of Proficiency in English (A-C)
      - TOEFL ibt 88 points or more
      - UNIcert level III or level IV
      - proof of an academic degree programm taught exclusively in English

    Application documents

    Upon completing the online application you need to submit the following documents within the application deadline:

    • application for admission (with original signature)
    • data view (protocol of the online application)
    • copy of the bachelor’s degree certificate stating the average grade plus a transcript of records with credit points
    • if the programme has not yet been completed: transcript of records issued by the higher education institution including overall average grade and total credit points (ECTS)
    • Form requesting subject-specific additional information
    • command of English language
    • for applicants with Chinese, Mongolian, Vietnamese degree: the original of the APS certificate
    • Grading system of your studies indicating the minimum grade required for passing the bachelor's degree as well as the highest grade possible. If this information is not given in the degree certificate/transcript, it must be provided separately in an official document or letter.
    • certified translations of documents that were not issued in German/English

      Please note:
    • One copy of each document, no authentication needed (exemption: APS certificate)
    • Incomplete applications (missing documents or details) will be rejected
    • We do not accept applications and supporting documents sent by email

  • Selection procedure

    For the evaluation of entrance requirements the following is considered:

    • The overall grade of the bachelor's or equivalent degree or, if this has not yet been determined, the average grade of the examinations completed by the time of application;
    • The grade point average of individual grades is not less than three of the following subjects with a minimum study volume of 2 semesters (or 2 terms)

      1. Pure mathematics
      2. Probability theory/statistics
      3. Applied mathematics (except achievements under 2.)
      4. Financial Economics
      5. Computer Science/programming skills
      6.  The evaluation can also take into account successful coursework completed in a master's programme.
