On Friday, 6 February, Ulm University's Dies academicus will take place. The University's foundation 59 years ago will be celebrated from 10:00 a.m. in research building N27. University President Professor Michael Weber will look back on the past year and provide information on upcoming events. Outstanding teaching staff, researchers and students will be honoured and the Doctoral prizes of the Ulmer Universitätsgesellschaft e.V. (Ulm University Association) will be awarded.
The Teaching Award 2025 goes to Dr Maximilian Förster and Dr Andreas Obermeier from the Institute of Business Analytics for their innovative concepts in the classroom. The student group she.codes, which offers free programming workshops for girls to get them interested in Computer Science and technical topics, receives the Ulm University Special Award for outstanding student commitment. Dr Julia Zinngrebe from the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine is the winner of the ExzellenziaUlm research prize for excellent young female scientists. Her research focus is on the interaction between fat cells and their environment.
The Science-Industry Cooperation Award goes to PD Dr Caroline Willich and Dr Christiane Bauer from the Institute of Energy Conversion and Storage for their cooperation with the companies Diehl Aerospace GmbH, HSG Elektronik Systeme, Deutsche Aircraft GmbH and MTU Aero Engines. Together they are researching fuel cell-battery hybrid systems for aircraft engines. Doctoral and PhD prizes from the Ulmer Universitätsgesellschaft e.V. (Ulm University Association) were awarded to Dr Sophia Janna Piller, Dr David Werbunat, Dr Maximilian Kohler, Dr Orkun Furat, Dr Mohamed Mahmoud Ali Elsayed Elnagar, Dr Mona Elena Arnold, Dr Bianka Kernl, Dr Caterina Prelli Bozzo and Dr Maximilian Hirschenberger.
The ceremony will be followed by a reception. The Dies academicus will be recorded and can be viewed afterwards on Ulm University's YouTube channel.
