Ulm Theatre is coming to the University! From 18th September, the dramatic power play "Oleanna" about a student and her lecturer will be staged in an authentic atmosphere in lecture hall H2 on the Ulm University campus. The play will be performed on eleven dates in September and October. Students can take advantage of Ulm University's theatre flat rate and receive remaining tickets free of charge seven days before a performance.
The successful American author David Mamet wrote his play "Oleanna" 25 years before the MeToo movement: student Carol feels out of place in the hierarchical university environment. Because she can't follow the scientific jargon and seminar content, she asks her lecturer John, who is about to become a tenured professor, for help. During their conversations, boundaries blur - he offers to tutor her and wants to give her unsatisfactory presentation a pass because he finds her 'likeable'. Later, the tables have turned: Carol has accused him of sexual harassment and power abuse. Now his professional and private future is hanging by a thread, subject to the interpretation of truth and lies.
Thanks to a co-operation with Ulm University, the dramatic power play is staged in an authentic atmosphere: The university is providing lecture hall H2 on Campus East for eleven performances in September and October. Admission is via the South Entrance, which can be reached easily and within a few minutes by tram line 2 in the direction "Science Park II": the "University Süd" stop is directly in front of the building. Inside, lecture hall H2 is on the right-hand side.
The premiere of "Oleanna" will take place on Thursday, 18 September 2025, at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available for 19 Euros (concessions: 14 Euros) at the theatre box office, at www.theater-ulm.de or by telephone on (0731) 161 4444. Students of Ulm University can reserve available theatre tickets from the 7th day before a performance under the keyword "Theaterflatrate Uni Ulm" and receive them free of charge.
