Ulm University one of Germany’s ten most popular universities!
Rated one of the top universities at 10th place in the StudyCheck ranking list

Ulm University

93 per cent of our students recommend studying at Ulm University to others, making it one of the most popular universities in Germany. The evaluation portal StudyCheck has now designated Ulm University as a "Top University in Germany 2024". In Baden-Württemberg, Ulm University even makes it to 4th place. And in the category of "digital readiness", Ulm comes in at 5th place nationwide. The ratings demonstrate once again how much value Ulm University places on personal support in its more than 60 degree programmes.

Students at Ulm University rate their university as one of Germany’s best, moving it up to 10th place in the StudyCheck ranking list. For the ranking, the university evaluation portal analysed around 78,500 reviews on its website from the year 2023 from students and alumni at 584 German universities. Its position among the top ten earns Ulm University the distinction of "Top University in Germany 2024".

"We are very pleased about the excellent reviews the students gave us", says Professor Olga Pollatos, vice president of education at Ulm University. "In particular, the high recommendation rates, which are at 100 per cent in many degree programmes, attest to the excellent quality of our teaching. Personalised support for our students is very important to us. We strive to help them fully develop their outstanding potential". The most popular degree programmes in the overall assessment include Media Informatics, Physics and Management, Mathematics, Molecular Medicine and Psychology.

Students feel they are in good hands

The distinction as a top university once again demonstrates that students feel they are in good hands at Ulm University, and on the campus where everything is close together. "You have the feeling that there is always someone you can turn to", one student writes in her review. The high levels of support regularly place Ulm University at the top of other prestigious rankings as well. For example, it maintained its position among the top 20 universities in Germany in the THE World University Ranking 2024, which assesses factors including the learning and research environment. And the CHE Ranking 2023 named Ulm University the best state university for its Economics Programme in the categories "practical orientation in teaching" and "digital teaching content".

It is only fitting that Ulm University should come in fifth in the independent StudyCheck student university ranking with respect to digital readiness. "This makes Ulm University one of the most outstanding universities in Germany in terms of digitalisation for students", says Professor Olga Pollatos. One example of the advanced digitalisation is the Moodle learning platform, which was significantly developed during the coronavirus pandemic and continues to be used in parallel to in-person teaching. On Moodle, students have access to many useful features, including teaching videos, recordings of lectures and teaching materials. Moodle is also an important foundation for implementing innovative teaching formats such as the inverted classroom. In addition, several new innovative degree programmes have been added to the established, future-proof degree programmes in the scientific, technical and medical fields, such as Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Data Science.
