This is how you apply:

Step 1: Registration in the campus portal of Ulm University
You register online via "My personal campus portal".
After self-registration, you will receive an e-mail with the activation code and a request to confirm your personal account in the campus portal of Ulm University.

Step 2: Application in the campus portal of Ulm University
You submit your application via "My personal campus portal" and upload the required documents.

Further information

  • Bachelor's degree or at least equivalent degree at the level of at least three years of study at a university, university of applied sciences, cooperative university or at a recognised foreign higher education institution in the degree programme in chemical engineering or in a subject-related or subject-specific degree programme,
    with examination results evidenced by

    a) an academic final examination with a bachelor's degree with an overall grade of 2.5 or better
    or if no degree has yet been awarded,
    b) by examination results achieved up to the application deadline with an average grade of 2.5 or better.
    If the grade of 2.5 or better is not achieved, aptitude must be proven in a selection interview.
     
  • Basic competences in the areas of chemical, thermal and mechanical process engineering as well as knowledge of the application of process engineering concepts to selected problems, to be demonstrated by corresponding modules or courses from the bachelor's or equivalent degree programme or by equivalent competences.
     
  • English language proficiency at level C1 CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

When submitting your application via "My personal campus portal", you must upload the following documents:

  • Bachelor's degree diploma (certificate) with final grade as well as overview of subjects and grades / transcript of records with credit points / Diploma Supplement if available
  • If you have not yet completed your higher education degree: overview of subjects and grades/transcript of records issued by the higher education institution with the total credit points earned up to the application deadline and an indication of the provisional average grade.
  • Proof of basic competences in the areas of chemical, thermal and mechanical process engineering as well as knowledge of the application of process engineering concepts to selected problems
  • Form for the subject-specific additional information
  • Poof of English language proficiency at level C1 CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • In the case of a higher education degree from China or Vietnam: APS certificate or APS confirmation
  • In the case of a foreign higher education degree: grading scale of the degree programme with indication of the lowest passing grade and maximum grade for the degree, to be shown on the bachelor's degree diploma/bachelor's degree certificate or on an official document of the higher education institution.
  • If proofs and documents to be submitted are not written in German or English, additionally an official translation into German or English is required
  • For applicants who do not come from an EU country or the European Economic Area and have a German higher education entrance qualification (“Abitur”): proof of higher education entrance qualification

Please note:

  • It is not necessary to certify the supporting documents
  • When submitting the application, all required supporting documents must be uploaded. Subsequent submission is not possible.
  • Application documents in paper form, as a fax or by e-mail will not be accepted.
  • A document issued in another name must be supplemented by documentary evidence of the change of name.

 

If the overall grade of the bachelor's degree or if no degree has yet been awarded, the average grade in all examination results completed by the application deadline is not achieved with a grade of 2.5 or better, the aptitude for the master's programme in Chemical Engineering must be proven in a selection interview. The selection interview is conducted in English.
There is no selection interview if the required grade 2,5 or better is fulfilled.

If you hold a bachelor of science in Chemieingenieurwesen from Ulm University, an application is not required. You can go to the Studiensekretariat (student administration and examinations office) instead and fill out an 'application for change of programme' (Antrag auf Studiengangwechsel) as soon as you graduate, given that your grades meet the requirements as stated in the admission statute (final grade at least 2.5 and sufficient English language knowledge).
