Come, orientate, decide
Subject-specific information events for pupils at Ulm University

Deciding to study is not easy. Many questions have to be weighed up when looking for the right programme: Which study programme is right for me? What content will be taught? What are the future career prospects? Ulm University wants to help prospective students and high school graduates with subject-specific information events to decide on a study programme. In addition to providing an insight into studying, the presentations also provide a space for discussion and questions.

From mid-May, the Zentrale Studienberatung (central student advisory services, also ZSB) and the faculties of Ulm University have organised two information sessions per subject, always in the afternoon. Participation is possible both in person and online. During the one-hour events, participants should clarify whether their ideas about the shortlisted study/degree programmes actually match reality. Course advisors present the day-to-day life of a study programme and provide information on career opportunities. Interested parties can also ask questions and benefit from the comments of other participants.

Subject-specific information events are offered on "classic" study programmes such as Medicine, Biology or Psychology. However, prospective students can also find out about lesser-known subjects. The spectrum ranges from Biomedical Engineering and Computational Science and Engineering to the possibility of studying to become a teacher at Ulm University.

On the Long Evening of Science at Ulm University on Friday, 23 May, there will also be a lecture for prospective students, parents and teachers: "How do I support (my) child in the study and career choice process?" (5 pm, N25, Room 2202 and online). Here, the ZSB will present the process of study orientation up to the decision and provide information on counselling services. Registration is not required; online participation is also possible.

The subject-specific information events will kick off with an advisory service for the Psychology study programme on Monday, 12 May at 3 pm in lecture hall 45.1 at the University West. This will be followed on Thursday 15 May by further events on subjects including Computer Science, Computational Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.

All dates, login details for the online events and the registration form for the face-to-face events can be found online: https://www.uni-ulm.de/fachinfoveranstaltungen (only in German!)
