Step 1: Registration in the campus portal of Ulm University
You register online via "My personal campus portal".
After self-registration, you will receive an e-mail with the activation code and a request to confirm your personal account in the campus portal of Ulm University.

Step 2: Application in the campus portal of Ulm University
You submit your application via "My personal campus portal" and upload the required documents.

Applicants with a foreign education certificate (bachelor's or equivalent degree)
 

Step 1: Online application via uni-assist
Register for the uni-assist online portal, answer all the basic questions and questions for your course application.

Step 2: Upload documents
Please upload the required application documents at the uni-assist online portal. Give your documents an unambiguous name.

Step 3: Submit your application to uni-assist electronically
(Paper-based documents are not required for application)

Step 4: Pay the handling fees to uni-assist

All required application documents as well as the payment must be received by uni-assist before the application deadline.

Further information

  • Bachelor's degree or at least equivalent degree from a university, a university of applied sciences, a cooperative university or a recognised foreign higher education institution in electrical engineering, communications engineering or physics or in a subject-related or subject-specific programme at the level of at least three years of study
  • A curriculum vitae related to the field of study
  • The programme in Communication and Information Technology requires basic knowledge and competencies to the extent of at least 3.5 points

                proven by:              

                the achieved individual grades of relevant study achievements to the extent of:

              at least 3 semesters in mathematics,

              a total of at least two semesters in the areas of "Signals and Systems" and

              "Fundamentals of Communications Engineering",

              at least one semester in the area of "Electromagnetic Fields and Waves",

              at least two semesters in the area of "Fundamentals of Electronics" and

              at least two semesters in the area of "Contents of Practical Computer Science"

              and, if available, professional practical experience

  • Admission to the master's degree programme can also be applied for if the bachelor's degree cannot yet be submitted by the expiry of the application deadline according to § 2 and if it can be expected that the applicant will complete the bachelor's degree programme in good time before the start of the master's degree programme on the basis of previous studies, in particular the previous study and examination achievements
  • A written report in English of no more than two pages stating the personal and subject-specific reasons for applying to the degree programme and considering the choice of the intended degree programme (letter of motivation)
  • English language skills at level C 1 CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

When submitting your application via "My personal campus portal", you must upload the following documents:

  • Bachelor's degree diploma (certificate) as well as overview of subjects and grades /transcript of records with credit points/Diploma Supplement (if available).
  • If you have not yet completed your higher education degree: overview of subjects and grades/transcript of records issued by the higher education institution with the total credit points earned up to the application deadline and an indication of the provisional average grade.
  • Proof of English language proficiency at level C1 CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • In the case of a higher education degree from China, India or Vietnam: APS certificate or APS confirmation.
  • Form for the subject-specific additional information (pdf)
  • Motivation letter in English - maximum two pages
  • In the case of a foreign higher education degree: grading scale of the degree programme with indication of the lowest passing grade and maximum grade for the degree, to be shown on the bachelor's degree diploma/bachelor's degree certificate or on an official document of the higher education institution.
  • If proof and documents to be submitted are not written in German or English, additionally an official translation into German or English is required
  • For applicants who do not come from an EU country or the European Economic Area and have a German higher education entrance qualification (“Abitur”): proof of higher education entrance qualification

Please note:

  • It is not necessary to certify the supporting documents
  • When submitting the application, all required supporting documents must be uploaded. Subsequent submission is not possible.
  • Application documents in paper form, as a fax or by e-mail will not be accepted.
  • A document issued in another name must be supplemented by documentary evidence of the change of name.
  • Further supporting documents may be required for your application.

The following criteria are used to evaluate whether the entrance requirements according to § 4 (1) no. 3 of the admissions statutes of Ulm University for the consecutive English-taught master's degree programme "Communication and Information Technology (CIT)" of 5 July 2023 are met:

  1. The special subject-specific aptitude, demonstrated by relevant study achievements (individual grades and scope of training) in the subjects
  1. Mathematics
  2. Signals and Systems and Fundamentals of Communications Engineering
  3. Electromagnetic Fields and Waves
  4. Fundamentals of Electronics
  5. Contents of practical computer science

or related subjects and, if applicable, practical experience related to the subject of study, in particular vocational training, practical work or studies that provide special information about the aptitude for the subject.

  1. The stated motivation to participate in the degree programme according to § 4 (1) no. 4; the letter of motivation will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:
  • written personally
  • clear presentation of motivation
  • clear career goals
  • clear statement about why Ulm or Germany

(evaluation factor 2),

  1. Language skills that exceed the minimum requirements of § 4 (1) no. 5 (evaluation factor 1).
