Preclinical Stage (1st – 5th semester)
During the preclinical stage the Dentistry pathway teaches contents that are very similar to those of the Human Medicine programme. Most subjects and laboratory courses are taught in joint lectures with students from both programmes attending, for example, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. Three applied dentistry courses and concomitant lectures teach dentistry-specific contents:
Technical Preparatory Course (2nd semester) Phantom Course I in Prosthodontics (3rd semester) Phantom Course II in Prosthodontics (subsequent to 3rd or 4th semester)
Clinical Stage (6th – 10th semester)
The special part of the clinical stage comprises the courses of the four main dentistry subjects:
Conservative Dentistry (Cariology/Endodontics, Periodontics, Pedodontics), Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Dental, Oral and Orthodontic Surgery
The practical clinical training is organised so that each course builds upon the previous courses. The general part of the clinical stage comprises the subjects Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology and Hygiene, Pathology, Dermatology, Pharmacology and Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine.
