The following characterises studying at Ulm University:

  • Personal atmosphere: At Ulm University you don't study in an anonymous mass organisation. Overcrowded lecture halls or long waiting times for seminar places and theses? Not here with us. Instead, you benefit from a personalised learning environment that supports you individually and offers you the best conditions for your academic success.
  • Wide range of degree programmes: The mathematics degree programme in Ulm is just as diverse as the faculty itself. Whether you are more interested in theoretical issues or prefer applied Mathematics - you can tailor your studies to your interests and set specific specialisations.
  • Close contact and interdisciplinarity: The direct line to lecturers gives you an early insight into current research projects. At the same time, close cooperation with other disciplines and partners from industry promotes a practical and interdisciplinary education.
  • Reinforced career prospects: Thanks to our wide-ranging network in science and business, you have the best prerequisites for a successful career start. Our graduates are in demand - among others at financial service providers, in software development, in tech start-ups and wherever data-based solutions are needed.
  • International focus: Want to broaden your horizons? We offer you numerous opportunities to spend time abroad during your bachelor's degree. Students who study at our partner institutions via exchange programmes are exempt from tuition fees there.

Going abroad

A great way to broaden your horizons in a discipline is to study at a foreign university. Ulm University students can apply for one or two semesters abroad at numerous universities, both throughout Europe as part of the ERASMUS programme and outside Europe.

Internships and theses at other universities are also possible. Ulm University has exchange agreements with over 100 universities in 26 countries. Here are some impressions of our USA exchange programme.

What students and graduates of UUlm have to say

Dr Christian Hering, Risk Controlling at Landesbank Baden-Württemberg LBBW in Stuttgart (Diploma in Mathematics and Management)
I advise students to be curious at all times and - if possible - to try to extend internships: This increases the chance of being given responsible tasks during the internship phase.

Larissa Schöpf, Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG (Master's degree in Actuarial Science)
I studied Mathematics and Management at Ulm University, specialising in Actuarial Science. During my studies, I obtained almost all DAV certificates so that I would have the opportunity to work as an actuary later in my professional life. This is something that only Ulm University can offer and it helps enormously when starting your career!

André Bluhm, CEO & Co-Founder @ ΩMEGA (Master's in Mathematics and Management)
As a former management consultant and current managing director and multiple AI start-up founder, I always look back with gratitude on my education in Mathematics and Management in Ulm. In addition to the essential theoretical tools for solving problems in a structured way, I also learnt to apply these analytical skills in innovative practical projects. With the degree in your pocket, you are ideally prepared for a career start, especially in the field of data & AI - whether in large, prestigious companies or as the founder of your own technology start-up.
