Founding Open Access Journals
The kiz (Communication and Information Centre) supports members of Ulm University in founding and publishing scholar-led open access journals based on the OJS Univ. Ulm platform.
With these journals, the rights to the research output remain entirely with the scientists. Publishing research via open access contributes to its visibility, whilst long-term availability is guaranteed by a record of publication in the University’s institutional repository.
We assist you with:
- Advice on the foundation of journals:
- Developing concepts, such as the journal’s profile, target audiences, branding, etc.
- Licences and legal issues, such as journal flipping
- Hosting and support in setting up a website based on Open Journal Systems (OJS)
- Visibility and long-term availability:
- Indexing in databases and search engines
- Assignment of DOIs for articles and an ISSN for the journal
- Publication records and long-term availability via the Open Access Repository of the Ulm University and Ulm University of Applied Sciences (OPARU)
