Research tips for seminar papers and technical papers

In the library catalogue books, journals and other media are listed which are available in the library of the kiz, but not articles from books or journals. Tips for searching for articles can be found further down on this page.

In accordance with the range of subjects at the university, the literature is mainly from the fields of medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, technology, psychology and economics.
The catalogue also lists electronic journals and books. Most of these digital media can only be accessed in the library.

The regional catalogue Ulm lists the media stocks of about 20 libraries of the region, among others the library of the kiz, the municipal library Ulm and the library of the Ulm University of Applied Sciences. See also: Regional Library Guide

If the literature you are looking for is not available in the library of the kiz you can order media from other libraries via interlibrary loan from the catalogue. Research is carried out either in the holdings of the libraries in Baden-Württemberg or throughout Germany. It is also possible to enter the bibliographic data in a free order form, for example, if you have identified literature in the Karlsruher Virtuellen Catalogue that you would like to order.

The expert information on the subject areas taught at the University of Ulm, which has been prepared primarily for students and academics, may also be of interest for your questions. Some of the listed sources are only accessible in the library.

Library catalogues usually do not contain any articles. If you want to search for journal articles on your topic, you will have to search one or more databases.

Databases can be found via the Databases-information-system DBIS. DBIS gives you access to subject databases, online dictionaries, online encyclopaedias and other online reference works as well as to portals. However, some of the subject databases accessible via DBIS can only be used in the library rooms.
