Microsoft Federal Framework Agreement

Ulm University joined the new federal framework agreement for educational institutions (also known as the university framework agreement ) with Microsoft on 1 May 2025. The contract runs until 30 April 2030.
The transfer of the contract was carried out by kiz (Communication and Information Centre) for the entire Ulm University without interruption.
Service features
The following licences are provided as part of the initial procurement:
1. client licences:
- Upgrade option to the latest Windows Enterprise operating system version
- Local installation of the latest Microsoft Office Suite
We recommend always installing the latest version and keeping it up to date.
Further information on the Microsoft Campus Agreement, the associated licence conditions and installation/activation can be found for the respective software in the Ulm University portal(https://portal.uni-ulm.de).
Shared devices (e.g. student workstations, presentation devices) or freely accessible rooms (e.g. PC clusters, study rooms):
Devices that are located in the specified rooms and are equippedwith a qualified basic licence (at least Windows 8 Home or Pro licence) may be updated to the latest Windows version or reinstalled with it. It is also permitted to install Microsoft Office.
2 Server licences & additional products:
Certain additional products and server licences can be obtained as chargeable rental licences via the framework contract.
The procedure for the procurement and billing of these licences has not yet been finalised. If you are interested, please create a ticket via the Help Desk.

Application modalities
The client licence service can be used by authorised persons without a separate application.
To obtain server licences or additional software, a request must be sent to the Help Desk by e-mail.
Fee / charge
Campus licences are financed centrally without a levy.
As part of the Microsoft federal framework agreement, the Medical Faculty participates in the form of a levy.
